Since their founding in 2004, Snarky Puppy has made a name for infusing new energy into the genre of jazz-funk fusion music. The group is led by bassist and composer Michael League, who has been recognized with a Grammy.
Marc Ribot (b. 1954) is a savvy guitar wizard who plays and combines jazz, son, soul and noise. Tom Waits is an admirer of his unconventional talents as is The Black Keys and Elvis Costello. He’ll be coming to this year’s Vienna Jazz Fest with his group Young Philadelphians.

George Clinton is not only a great eccentric but also the principal architect of P-Funk, a cocktail of funk, rock, and psychedelic sound effects. Jazz brass sounds meet bubbling polyrhythms accompanied by driving bass wrapped around melodic vocals.

The trio was founded by the leader pianist, Yusuke Kono, bassist Ryoichi Zakota and drummer Shinnosuke Kinoshita in December 2014. Their first album "For Woodsiders/Yusuke Kono Piano Trio" was released in Jan 2015.

The acid-jazz/sweet-soul group Incognito is the brainchild of Jean-Paul “Buey“ Maunick, a guitarist and composer originally from Mauritius. Incognito’s sound is laid-back and relaxed but never indifferent. The acapella group Naturally 7 has won a wide following, especially in Europe, since the group was formed in 1999 in New York. Through acapella, they give a new spin to well-known hits. Over the years, the HPRC has progressed from straight-out mimicry to sublime interpretations of funk and soul. Their shows always take place on the “funky side of the road“ and have gained a wide following for their heated intensity.
